New Year equals a new blog. What can I say about 2012? I started the new year with a new job and made it through six months of living in Southern California.
Job: My job has definitely had it's up and downs (I know every job does). The guests are slowly killing my soul. They seem so angry about their life even though they are on vacation and staying in a very nice part of Southern California. But I love the people I work with. We know how to make each other laugh when the mean guests get us down. We also are big on sharing food. I bring in desserts, so does Mona S. We all just try to take care of one another! They are my work family! We take turns buying each other Starbucks or donuts. The day of Halloween worked allowed us to dress up- I went as a flapper girl.
In August, Jill started working at the villas, she has become someone I hang out with outside of work!
Health: In March I had Bell Palsey for a few weeks. I think I handled my face looking weird very well. Although, everytime my face feels tight I get worried that it has started to relapse. I also got my fainting problem figured out from having low blood pressure, so when it spikes even a little up or down it causes me to feel very dizzy.
Travel: In the past year I have went back to Indianapolis 3 times. At the end of April we went back for a special showing of a film Daniel worked on at Ball State. In September I spent a full week to celebrate my mom's 50th birthday and Alyssa and Brent's wedding.
I was feeling homesick and flights were cheap so I surprised my mom the first weekend in November! With the plane tickets being too pricey for the Christmas season we decided to stay in Southern California. For our Valentine date, Daniel and I went to LA to eat at Wood and Vine, and see Wicked. We had an amazing dinner and seats. I always imagined our life having many special nights like that. For our one year marriage anniversary we went to Phoenix to meet up with Daniel's family.
In July Daniel went to film in Taiwan for a school project, during that time my mom came to visit and I got to go to Vegas for a night for the first time to celebrate Alex's 21st birthday! In November we met up with Starla and Bruce to have an early Thanksgiving in Vegas high style. We stayed at the Paris hotel and had an amazing meal in the Eiffel Tower. In December I wanted to get out of Orange so we went to Arizona for a weekend. We stayed with Starla and Bruce and got to have lunch with Andrea before heading out.
Hostest with the Mostest: In February my mom came out to visit me for the first time. I made her pink cupcakes and we spent a day at Disneyland. She did more taking care of me, by helping me out with Bruce. The first week of April my sister in laws, Lindsay and Kayleigh came for a long weekend. I had a cute spring scarf on the bed on their arrival. Starla came in for a day and a half to go with us to Disneyland.
On July 4th I picked up my mom at the airport so she could stay with me while Daniel was out of the country. Of course, she took care of me by cooking me meals and taking care of Bruce Wayne (our dog). In October, Alex, a friend from Ball State came to visit us on her fall break. We took her up to the Queen Mary Ship and Hollywood and of course did a day in Disneyland. I stayed for the first time to see the World of Color show, which was incrediable!
The first week of December my dad came to visit us. We stayed a night at my resort and did a day of Disney.
Relationships: I'm not the kind of person to pick up the phone and catch up. I'm just not a phone person. I normally call my family on the way to and from work or skype every few weeks. I send mail to my Muncie friends and Emily who is in Naples with the Navy. I love getting mail, so I try to send it as much as possible.
Daniel: Daniel and I have now been together 7 years and married a year and half! We definitely don't have nearly the drama we had in high school; but things are going well. I have no complaints.
Regrets: I wish I would have been able to visit Ashley for her 21st birthday- we both didn't get memorable 21st birthday stories.
This Upcoming Year: Daniel and I will be leaving for Indiana on January 17 to stay there for a long weekend. From Indy we fly to Ft. Meyers to visit Bill's house and to end our week in Disney World! After the spring semester, we are meeting Ashley (my sister) and her boyfriend, Matt, in Vegas. We will spend two nights there, the last night will be Daniel's 25th Birthday, then we will take them back to the OC where they will fly out of. In July, I will be in Jess's, a friend from high school, wedding at the end of July. I have been thinking/dreaming of going back to Paris a lot lately. I already have 45,000 miles; which is half way to a free plane ticket to Europe. It would be amazing to be in Paris next year for New Year's Eve! I would even give up some visits to Indiana.
