Whitney (the scripted show)

Last night I went into LA to see a taping of Whitney with Daniel, Jill, and her boyfriend, Brett. Although Jill and Brett grew up in Southern California they had never been to a scripted television taping. It was also Daniel's first time. I had went with my Dad last year to see the taping of Tim Allen's new show Last Man Standing.
I got property tickets through On Camera Audiences, so we just had to show up by 4pm for guarantee seats. For some of the bigger shows you have to show up a few hours before hand and wait. I worked until 1pm and then Jill came to pick us up at 2pm. We made excellent time to getting into LA so we were able to grab some dinner at The Counter, a custom burger place. We got to the CBS studios just in time and only had to wait a few minutes before being escorted to the sound stage.
The worst part about the taping was a group of college swimmers, from a college we had never heard, was being completely rude the entire time. The few that sat behind us, had obviously never seen the show and had no interest of being there. They were complaining about the comedian (who was their to keep the audience entertained during set ups/breaks), how the show wasn't funny, and how they had to film scenes more then a two times. They obviously freshman, but this girl behind me just kept complaining. All four of us were really getting annoyed. If I didn't like the show so much I would have turned around and yelled at her. But, I didn't want to be put on some black list for other TV audience shows.
The episode we saw being taped was "Cake, Cake, Cake" that had a special appearance by Chelsea Handler playing Whitney's therapist. All I have to say is I might have to eat cake with my hands while watching that episode in a few weeks!

Thanks Whitney show for letting us watch you guys perform! Everyone is so funny and down to earth! I hope this show gets picked up for season 3!

  1. I was at that taping too, and I agree. Occidental College (Eagle Rock, CA, small liberal arts/political science college that a lot of politicians' kids go to) aquatic athletes are kind of known for being obnoxious. I was a recruit for the water polo team last year and I recognized a lot of them. Ironically, Oxy has fantastic academics.

The show was great though. Do you know when it's supposed to air?
